During the Culture Revolution in China, school graduates were sent down to live and work in rural areas.  Most of Chinese current top leaders, including President Xi, Premier Li and Congress Chairman Zhang, the top three were “Sent-down-youth”  while less than 1% of Chinese Population have such experience.
